Tim Hawkins describes a prayer style we all recognize, and it’s hilarious. The popular funnyman points out that some people have a particular way of praying, which includes adding extra words for no real reason at all. Watch the short and hysterical clip to hear Tim point out how some people pray in public in a long-winded manner, repeating the same thing over and over.

Reading and studying God’s Word is essential for every Christian. It’s basically a guidebook, an instruction manual for life. It contains information and words of wisdom on how to handle everything we may encounter in life. Now, while reading the Bible is critically important, prayer is even more so.

Prayer is powerful. It’s an opportunity available to anyone to communicate directly with the Creator of the universe. It’s through prayer that we can and will develop a relationship with Him. How else are you supposed to establish and maintain a relationship without constant and consistent communication? It simply cannot be done.

However, when it comes to prayer, Jesus did provide us with instructions on how to pray. It should be concise, to the point and not intended for public performance. In a clip posted on social media, Tim mentions the kind of person who we’ve all heard pray way too many times – the person who, while praying, says the same thing four or five times.

“You guys have these guys in your church pray?” he asked. “I call them Thesaurus Prayers. It’s usually an older guy who prays in the church. He prays like a thesaurus.”

Later in the clip, Tim gives an example of what he’s talking about, and for anyone who has spent any amount of time in the church, it will immediately become familiar.

“Lord, lead us, guide us, direct us,” he says. “Navigate for us, Lord. Show us the way to go.’ That means the same thing, Rosier. Can you help me out here? I got some stuff to do today.”
