This Breathtaking Cover of Toto’s ‘Africa’ Is Musical Magic

Ba bum ba ba ba bum…This breathtaking cover of Toto’s “Africa” is musical magic, and I’m sure you’ll agree after you listen to it. It’s got everything you could want in an “Africa” cover. Play the video to hear the magic!

The Hindley Street Country Club truly shines in this cover, which features a full ensemble of maracas, drums, guitar, bass, and piano. The team has three well-pitched male vocalists, and it sounds like out of the millions of songs they could cover, this is the one that was meant for them. It is absolute perfection. Every note sounds just like the original song, but clearer, with voices that are slightly different yet perfectly fit the music.

It’s no small feat to cover a Toto song, and this one is tough to cover. Toto had a group of extremely talented people, and that is very hard to match. The Hindley Street Country Club has done the near-unimaginable with its amazing “Africa” cover. Some of the lyrics of “Africa” are:

I bless the rains down in Africa (I bless the rains)
I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa (ooh, I'm gonna take the time)
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had, ooh-hoo

Toto member David Paich said “Africa” is about a man’s love for the continent. He wrote the song after being inspired by a documentary he watched about the suffering of Africans. Some of the lyrics refer to a missionary in Africa.

He said, "It both moved and appalled me, and the pictures just wouldn't leave my head. I tried to imagine how I'd feel about it if I was there and what I'd do." From his thoughts and feelings emerged a beautiful, timeless, and masterful song — one that has been played and covered all over the world, though few have done it as well as The Hindley Street guys!
