Candace Cameron Bure opened up about the importance of reminding herself that God has forgiven her. The actor, author and podcast host mentioned that even though she has been forgiven of her sins, she still struggles with that at times. Watch the short but powerful clip to hear Candace’s powerful and insightful words on His forgiveness.
Sin has ruined and destroyed this world. Everything that sin comes into contact with is made immediately worse. This truth about our fallen world is easily visible all around us – on the news, social media platforms, in the workplace and in our neighborhoods. Human beings have made an unbelievable mess of things, that is for sure.
However, despite the sad, sin-ridden state of our world, there is still hope. Jesus Christ, who willingly went to the cross, suffered and died on the cross, and later rose again, offers hope, love and forgiveness from sin. He can transform lives and hearts, injecting hope into a situation previously thought hopeless. Only He can do that, but we must first confess our sins and accept his forgiveness, which is freely offered to all.
In a clip posted on YouTube, Candace mentions that even after confessing her sins and accepting Christ as her personal Lord and Savior, she still has to remind herself that God has forgiven her for this or that sin at times.
“There are a few that, that haunt me still today, and I think about them,” she said. “And I think about God’s forgiveness, and I think I’ve asked for forgiveness way too many times, in a sense that God forgives me. God paid the fine for me. God’s not holding judgment against me once I’ve confessed and asked Him forgiveness.”
Later in the clip, Candace says she understands that once she has asked forgiveness, the Lord actually forgets about that thing, but sometimes she can hold onto things that she needs to let go of.
Most of us can relate to this, because we all have things that we unnecessarily hold onto, even after taking them to the Lord.
Isaiah 43:25 “I, even, I, am he who takes away your sins; and I will no longer keep your evil doings in mind.”
