This Fantastic Cover of 'September' Is a Toe-Tapping Good Time

This fantastic cover of “September” is a toe-tapping good time, for sure. From the vocals to the sax and other instruments, it’s an incredibly lively cover. Play the video to dance along!

The lead for this Sing it Live cover, Darren Mullen, has a wonderful voice that matches Earth, Wind & Fire's. It’s wonderful to see everyone in the Australian band putting their all into their performance, too. They’ve got a base, drums, keyboard, electric guitar, trumpet, saxophone, and three people on vocals.

The backup singers even have some choreography going on in the background as they sing. Everyone’s got a smile on their face, and you can tell that they all love performing.

Some of Earth, Wind, and Fire’s “September” Lyrics are:

Do you remember
The twenty-first night of September?
Love was changin' the minds of pretenders
While chasin' the clouds away

It’s such a fun song that everyone knows. It was created out of pure creativity and joy.

Earth, Wind, and Fire’s Al McKay recalled the day he came up with the beat: “It was one of those mornings. I came downstairs feeling really good. (I) went to my studio, set up a groove, and it just came piece by piece by piece.”

“I brought it to Maurice [White], and he liked it right away. Then he said, ‘Play it again.’ And I kept playing it for him. The last time, he looked at me and he sang, ‘Do you remember …’”

September Was Inducted into the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress

In 2020, the song was inducted into the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress. It was made an aural treasure because of its cultural, historic and aesthetic importance to America’s musical heritage.

The song has made history for making magic out of the month of September, and it’s hard not to love the song after you’ve heard it once. Sing it Live has yet again chosen another stellar song to cover.
