John Crist’s Hilarious Litmus Test for a True Southern State
John Crist has a straightforward and hilarious litmus test for what makes a Southern state. The popular funnyman believes this is a huge, colossal determining factor in deciding which states make up the South, and he might just be right. Watch the short but laugh-out-loud funny clip to listen to John explain how and why his test is so helpful when settling on what states comprise the southern region of the United States of America.
The United States is a massive, expansive country. It’s a place full of wonderful, diverse cultures, eye-popping landscapes and scenery and delicious, scrumptious foods and drinks. Given all that the United States has to offer and experience, it’s clear that the Lord has incredibly blessed this country.
Do any traveling throughout the country, and you’ll soon find that each region – the Northeast, the Midwest, the Southwest, the Northwest, the West Coast and the South – is special and unique in its own way. One of the most obvious ways in which those regions differ from one another is that each specializes in a particular type of food and/or drink, or at least has something they are known for.
In a clip posted on YouTube, John states that a beloved drink found throughout the South can help determine which states actually qualify as part of that region. He adds that it’s whether you can order sweet tea, and then how that order is received, that will decide whether you are in a Southern state or not.
“Let me tell you where the South is, Ok,” he said. “As soon as you’re not able to order a sweet tea at a restaurant, that’s the end of the South, Ok?”
Later in the clip, John mentioned what happened to him when he asked for a glass of sweet tea at a Pennsylvania restaurant.
“They looked at me like I fought in the Confederate Army,” he added. “Ok, and some of you guys will be like, ‘Well, what about some of these big cities in the South? You can’t order a sweet tea down there.’ Yeah, because they’ve been co-opted. They’re under the occupation of the North.”
1 Corinthians 10:31 “So then, if it is a question of food or drink, or any other thing, whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
