Animals, most people can agree, are great. Who doesn’t love walking in the door at night and being greeted by a cute, furry, four-legged friend? They are loyal and dependable to a fault. Most of those critters also love unconditionally.

In addition to being all of those things, animals are incredibly unpredictable. We can never be sure how any cat, dog or rabbit will react in any given situation until they are placed in it. Trying to predict an animal’s behavior is a fool’s errand. You can have an idea, an educated guess even, but more than likely, your prediction will come up short or be entirely wrong.

A clip posted on social media captures a moment—a situation that no one could have predicted or guessed. The video shows a deer lovingly giving a bath to a black-and-white cat who is lounging in an empty flowerpot.

The whole moment is astonishing. Who would have ever thought a wild deer would walk up to a cat and start licking it? Also, given that cats are typically reserved and cautious animals, it is unbelievable to see that the cat obviously loves what is happening. Most would have thought the cat would have scurried away at the first sight of the deer.
