MercyMe delivered a beautiful performance of their tune, “Oh Death.” The popular Christian music group gave an exclusive performance of their latest uplifting and incredibly catchy, upbeat hit. Watch the short but delightful clip to hear and watch MercyMe perform their song "Oh Death."

Death is a huge, massive fear for most people. It’s completely understandable why many individuals are frightened about what happens after our time on Earth ends. It’s filled with unknowns, and not knowing what happens next always causes human beings to experience trepidation and anxiety. We desperately want that knowledge so we can be prepared and aren’t caught off guard or taken by surprise.

However, those many unknowns will always exist when it comes to death. We won’t know what happens until our time is up. But even with those many unknowns, death is not something we have to fear. Christ, who willingly went to the cross, suffered and died for you and me, forever defeating death and sin.

In a clip posted on YouTube, MercyMe performs “Oh Death.” It’s a tune about how death no longer has a hold on them. They don’t fear or dread it. Instead, they joyously sing about death and how they have a Savior who has defeated the grave and death.

“Oh death, I will not be afraid
In the end, you will lose
I will dance on your grave with the one who buried you
You ain’t nothin’ but a stone that my Savior rolled away”

If that song and those powerful lyrics don’t move you, I’m sure anything will. Death, while many unknowns remain, is not something that we have to fear. Christ’s love and forgiveness offer freedom from sin, shame and fear, which includes the fear of death. If Jesus Christ is our personal Lord and Savior, and we’re sure that heaven is our destination after leaving this Earth, why do we fear death?

Revelation 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
