Animals are some of the most fantastic and fascinating creatures on Earth. How can you not love and adore animals? Even if they aren’t the warmest, most friendly and cuddliest critters, they are still utterly fascinating. We can never be quite sure what they will do next.

Many people choose to dedicate their entire careers to studying and looking after animals, and they are often still surprised by a new action or behavior from those beings. When you think you’ve figured them out and know how they will act in a particular situation, they do something that utterly amazes you.

As a clip posted on YouTube shows, one woman was taken entirely by surprise by one large bird’s move. She was simply posing for a picture while holding a hot dog when a seagull leaped into action after seeing something it badly wanted. While the photo was being taken, the bird unexpectedly dove down and snatched the hot dog from the woman’s hand.

Two photos capture the moments before and after the bird’s unexpected theft. In the first photo, the bird is spotted swooping down in the frame with its gaze fixed on the hot dog in the woman’s right hand. The second photo captures the woman’s shock and surprise after the seagull snatched away her hot dog.

“And out of nowhere, this huge seagull came and swooped it, right across my face, and basically, in one huge gulp, right out of my hand,” Meredith Barber said.

I know what you’re thinking, and yes, the restaurant did give her another hot dog. No birds are believed to have taken that one from her.
