Surprisingly, many television shows are canceled soon after their premiere. Television executives apparently do not have much patience. They want to see a return on their time and monetary investment quickly. Most shows don’t get more than two to three seasons, if they even get that long. If those programs don’t get the ratings, they don’t last.

Knowing that most shows aren’t given much time to grow and develop an audience, it makes perfect sense why there are only a few truly classic television shows. Of course, what constitutes a “classic television show” will differ from person to person.

Regardless of one’s definition of a classic television program, there is no denying “Laverne & Shirley” is a beloved, iconic and classic sitcom. And some may argue that a lot of that has to do with the show’s theme song, which everyone is familiar with, even if they don’t realize it.

In a clip posted on social media, rock bands The Killers and the Violent Femmes were in Milwaukee (where “Laverne & Shirley” is set) and thrilled the crowd with a cover of the iconic theme song. It’s impossible to listen to this rendition and not sing along as you picture the show’s opening sequence in your head.

How can you not hear those lyrics and not instantly be put in a good mood? They are so uplifting and encouraging, making you feel as if anything is possible.
