Steve Carell Delivers Laughs and Dance Moves During Unforgettable Commencement Speech

Steve Carell delivered laughs and dance moves during an unforgettable commencement speech. The actor spoke at Northwestern University’s graduation, and it’s an address that those students and faculty members will likely never forget. Watch the short but hysterical clip to hear what “The Office” star said and to see him bust a move.

Graduation for every student, whether from high school or college, is a mammoth milestone that deserves to be recognized and celebrated. A graduation ceremony is a time-honored tradition to do just that, where those graduating are lauded for their educational accomplishment and receive words of wisdom and encouragement for their futures.

Regarding graduation, colleges and universities often invite recognizable people to address the graduates. Presidents, both current and past, and high-ranking members of the military are always popular selections. However, for their most recent graduation ceremony, Northwestern University went a decidedly different route for their speaker: actor and comedian Steve Carell.

In the clip posted on YouTube, Steve Carell, best known for playing the lovable yet clueless boss of Scranton’s Dunder Mifflin branch, Michael Scott, delivers a laugh-out-loud funny address and even shows off some fancy footwork.

Steve delivered this hilarious line as he mentioned the theme of his address and what he wanted to talk to the graduates about.

“Today, I’d like to talk about something quite simple, something that is important to me and something that I believe we need more of in the world,” he said. “My topic this morning is kindness. So, please just shut up and listen.”

Later in the clip, Steve hilariously shared how he exemplifies kindness.

“I understand the importance of kindness,” he said. “I am kind, or at least that seems to be a common misconception about me.”

The clip also showed Steve dancing on stage, high-fiving and dancing with the most recent Northwestern University graduates.

Psalm 149:3 “Let them give praise to his name in the dance: let them make melody to him with instruments of brass and corded instruments of music.”
