Everyone has a name. Some people have only a first and a last name, while it’s much more common for individuals to have three – a first, a middle and a last name. Whatever the case may be, regardless of how many names we may or may not have, we have very little control over our names.

Yes, mothers and fathers select their children’s first and middle names, but when it comes to the last name, that choice has already been made. As everyone knows, the last name depends on what family you’re born into, and as the old saying goes, you can pick your friends, but you can’t pick your family.

One comedian knows that all too well, as his name is Glen Tickle. In a clip posted on YouTube, he made it clear right off the bat that that is his actual name, and that he understands how strange it is to have that last name.

“Glen Tickle is the name I was given at birth, that I have to use in my life when I meet other people,” he said. “It’s been hard. I used to work as a substitute teacher, and that’s a hard job for anybody, but for me, I had to wake up every morning to go stand up in front of a different group of little kids I’d never met and write ‘Mr. Tickle’ on the board.”

As you might expect, this led to some difficulties inside and outside the classroom, especially if he ran into one of those kids at the store or a restaurant.
