Everyone should push themselves, stretch and test their abilities. Yes, doing something new can be, and often is, frightening. Honestly, though, what is the worst thing that can happen? We fail and make a fool of ourselves in the process? Maybe, but we’ll never know until we try, right? Who knows, we might even succeed and discover we can do something we never knew we were capable of doing.

If you ever watch an interview with an actor, they will likely talk about pushing themselves to do this or that role at some point during the discussion. Sometimes they succeed, and other times, they may not. In a clip posted on YouTube, that is exactly what Burt Reynolds did during an appearance on The Carol Burnett Show.

The clip begins with Carol mentioning that Burt is about to do something he has never done before: sing. However, the late movie star wasn’t going to let that fear hold him back from trying. After her brief comments, Carol throws it to Burt, whose musical number starts off well but quickly goes downhill in a hilarious fashion.

Several women crowd around Burt as he performs a love song while dancing with them. It becomes clear early that his inexperience as a singer and dancer gets the better of him and the women around him. Everyone on stage falls or has some comedic mishap, turning the musical number into a complete disaster.
