We want to see if we’re compatible with this person, and if we’re not, well, that’s when things can get a bit messy. No one enjoys breakups, but despite how difficult they can be, they are necessary, especially when we discover this relationship isn’t going to work. It’s better to end things sooner rather than later, not draw things out, and waste the person’s time.
