Shaq’s Incredible Generosity is Couple's Answer to Prayer

Shaquille O’Neal’s incredible generosity is one couple’s answer to prayer. They were praying and looking for a solution to a problem, and the Lord gave them an answer in the form of kindness from the former basketball star. Check out this sweet and heartwarming story about God's faithfulness and the power of prayer.

Reading the Bible and studying God’s Word is necessary and vital to a Christian’s daily walk with Him. Through regular and continual reading of His Word, we will learn more. Verses, passages and ideas that previously may not have made sense will become clearer, providing a better grasp and understanding.

However, prayer is even more crucial to a Christian’s growth, learning and understanding. Prayer is direct communication with the Creator. Through prayer, we can express our hopes, worries and concerns directly to Him. Also, because of those earnest prayers, we will start to see Him work in situations and provide answers to prayers.

In a clip posted on YouTube, a couple – Wendell and Laura Garrett- in Texas was shopping when they encountered Shaquille O’Neal. He was handing out shopping sprees and gave them a $500 gift card. For the Garretts, the NBA Hall of Famer’s act of kindness answered prayer.

They work with and donate to a homeless shelter, helping the less fortunate. As the clip mentions, the Garretts give yearly, even when money is less plentiful. Shaq’s $500 gift made their giving possible this year.

“I’ve been praying, like, ‘How are we going to fund this because we’ve had kind of a hard year financially,” Laura said. “And so right then and there, we knew that’s what we’re going to use that money for.”

The video mentions that Laura said that prayer right before arriving at the mall, where they ran into Shaq and received his generous gift.

“We looked at each other and just said, ‘God is so good!’” Larry said.

Mark 11:24 “For this reason I say to you, ‘Whatever you make a request in prayer, have faith that it has been given to you, and you will have it.’”
