A toddler’s adorable reaction to her reflection will melt your heart. There are moments in life when pure wonder and innocence collide, creating memories in our hearts for years to come, especially the early years as parents. One of those moments is when this sweet little girl in Minnie Mouse pajamas sees her reflection in the mirror. 

Unaware she is being filmed, she climbs up on a bench to reach the mirror. From there, she pauses to look at herself before uttering sounds at the little girl smiling back at her. At first, she stares at the reflection with a mix of confusion and delight–what is this tiny other little person in front of her? She leans in closer, uttering more sounds as if trying to figure out who the new friend is. 

But then the magic happens. A big grin spreads across her face as she leans in and lets out a burst of giggles. It’s as though a lightbulb went off, and she realized–this is ME! Her joy is infectious as she studies everything about herself, including her teeth. She bounces in front of the mirror and leans her hands on the wall as she smiles away and continues to babble. How can she not be entertained by the cute face in front of her? 

The wonder in her eyes–it’s a reminder of the simple joys in life and how each of us is masterfully woven together by God Himself. I loved watching the wonder in her eyes! What about you? Maybe we older folks need to take one from this little girl’s playbook and smile in wonder at the wrinkles around our eyes and the gray coming into our hair.
