Most people will agree that Christmas is the best time of the year. That’s an easy case to make and argue when considering Christmas is generally a time spent with family and friends, eating delectable food and exchanging gifts. However, for those who have experienced loss, the holidays can be a painful reminder.

Losing someone like a spouse would most certainly make Christmas bittersweet. That pain and hurt will not and does not dissipate because of the abundance of bright lights and meticulously wrapped gifts. However, in a clip posted on YouTube, a woman who had recently passed away was still able to give her loving and devoted husband a Christmas gift – one that he will no doubt cherish forever.

The video explains a woman battling ALS knew she was in the last months of her life and understood she would not make it to Christmas. So, she reached out to Secret Santa on behalf of her husband, Dustin. She wanted to honor and recognize her husband for all his love and service to her. She wanted her husband to have a “comfortable, shady spot to read his book” in their backyard.

In her letter, she described Dustin as the “most giving, compassionate person” that she ever met.

Dustin, a police officer, was more than surprised when the camera crew arrived at the station. He had absolutely no idea what his wife had done months before she passed away. As he read the precious, loving letter and learned of the generous gift to fulfill his wife’s request, providing him with a “comfortable, shady spot to read his book,” he was overwhelmed with emotion.

“I have no words to describe any of this other than Kirsten was just so amazing,” Dustin said with tears in his eyes. “And I’m blessed to have had her in my life for 30 years.”

1 Corinthians 13:13 “But now we still have faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love.”
