Squirrel Steals the Show with Touchdown Run During Football Game

A squirrel steals the show with a touchdown run during a football game! End zone antics are a staple of America’s beloved football games. We can’t help but watch in awe as some of our favorite football players come up with creative dance moves when they score a touchdown. We’ve seen backflips, high fives, prayers being lifted, and more. But rarely do we see the great outdoors stealing the show at the big game.

A truly nutty moment of chaos erupted during the recent college football matchup between Ole Miss and Oklahoma. With the score tied at 7-7 and just 1:26 minutes left in the first quarter, the game was already heating up, and not just because of the players.

In the midst of a timeout due to a sideline incident, fans witnessed an expected player sprinting onto the field. But it wasn’t just any player. It was a squirrel. He was ready to claim his 15 minutes of fame while looking for a few nuts. He started darting across the grass like he owned the place. Forget the offensive line; this little guy was determined to score a touchdown. From a full 17 yards out, the furry interloper only had one thing in mind: Touchdown Glory! At least, that’s what football fans like to think!

As the little critter scampered down the field, ESPN announcer Bob Wischusen was quick to point out the absurdity of the moment. He couldn’t help but call out,  “We have a squirrel at the 17-yard line!” His voice was a mix of disbelief and amusement. With each passing second, the crowd’s excitement grew as the squirrel gave it his all and dashed for the outpost! Bob couldn’t help but announce, “The squirrel might score a touchdown! Oh year! Touchdown!” Too bad, the bravado act didn’t count for either team.

What was even more hilarious was watching several men from the sidelines try to guide the nutty creature off the field. It was clear the little guy had no intention of leaving its newfound spotlight. But eventually, he was escorted to the sidelines and the game resumed. But for everyone watching the game, the clear winner was this rambunctious rodent.
