Son of Backstreet Boys Singer Captivates Judges on 'American Idol'

This audition shows just how much music runs in this family! Baylee Littrell is a 21-year-old singer, and he is the son of Backsteet Boys' Brian Littrell. On ‘American Idol,’ Baylee wows the judges during his audition with his emotional original song, and his superstar father even comes to join him for a musical treat for the judges.

“I believe I get my voice from dad, and hopefully I can do him justice today,” Baylee shares before his audition. Then he goes on to talk about how his dad’s career has influenced him as he’s grown up.

“I guess you could say music runs in our family. Dance-moves wise, that’s the one thing genetically that did not pass down. Following in my dad’s footsteps is scary. Because his career, to me, is one of the most extraordinary in music history. No one can ever compare,” Baylee says. “I remember being eight or nine years old and they sold out this huge arena, and I got to open up for them. I just had my two little songs, and then I came off stage. And when the guys went on, the screams and the lights went down. I was just mesmerized.”

Baylee now wants to forge his own path in the music world, and his family is so supportive of his decision.

“Obviously, growing up in the industry, a lot of people would look at that as such a perk,” says Baylee’s father, Brian. “But it’s not easy. I’ve always told everybody that he’s 10 times more talented than I ever was.”

After Baylee auditioned, he received high praise from the ‘American Idol’ judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie. His original song was touching and emotional, and it showed the range of what his voice can do. After sharing their comments with Baylee, the judges let him know what he was going through to the Hollywood round!

We can’t wait to see what Baylee brings to the stage in the next round of ‘American Idol!’
