Young Girl Honors Late Baby Brother with Moving, Tear-Jerking Poem
A young girl honored her late baby brother with a moving, tear-jerking poem. The child, a first grader, decided to put her thoughts and feelings about her little brother, who passed away, down on paper, creating a poem. Watch this short video to hear the child’s poem and learn about the story behind the poem. Make sure to have a box of tissues nearby.
Life is not always a fun experience. Sure, there will be plenty of reasons and occasions when celebrating is warranted and even necessary. Unfortunately, in addition to the happy, joyous moments, there will be instances that bring about pain, grief and sorrow.
One of the most intensely painful, and devastating experiences is losing a loved one. During such times, many people will try to comfort those grieving by falling back on that old cliché, stating that “time heals all wounds.” Of course, that is not true at all. Time may lessen the sting some, but it will always hurt. That person’s absence will forever be a hurtful reminder of who is no longer in our lives.
In a clip posted on YouTube, a little girl, Khali, channeled her pain about losing her baby brother, Houston, into a poem. She wrote down her thoughts and feelings about losing him. The child then recited the poem about her late brother in a talent show and won first prize.
Writing the poem was a cathartic and healing exercise for Khali and her mother, Tijinee. Tijinee was able to grieve and express her feelings as she listened to her daughter during the talent show.
“So, I was actually trying to hold back my emotions because I felt like she was doing something that I couldn’t deliver,” Tijinee said. “So, it was kind of me grieving through her in a better way for me as well.”
Finding a way to grieve, express and channel hurt and sorrow, especially when going through those deep, dark valleys, can be beneficial in the healing process.
Psalm 147:3 “He makes the brokenhearted well and puts oil on their wounds.”
