Simplify Your Life

Simplify Your Life

When my kids were younger, I used to buy lots of BIG presents for relatively cheap to put under the Christmas tree. I couldn’t wait for Christmas morning when they would come running down the steps…I couldn’t wait to see their eyes when they saw all the presents under the tree!

My kids are older now…teenagers to be exact…and if you have teenagers, I’m sure you can relate to what I’m about to say: The presents under the tree…they’re not nearly as large as they used to be, but they cost a whole lots more! Wow…

And it hit me the other day when I was out shopping: How much of this stuff do they really need? (Pause) I MEAN…SERIOUSLY! And I started wondering how I could simplify Christmas this year…how could I do something new and different to start a new, more meaningful tradition without my kids feeling like they got ripped off.

When my family went to Nicaragua this past Summer on a mission trip, we got to see first hand how little people all around the world live with and how much stuff we have here in America. It made an impact upon us. We’re certainly not there yet, but we want to begin living differently…simplifying our life somehow. And what a better time to start doing that then Christmas time?
