Walk A Mile

Walk A Mile

When we first moved back to Alaska from Texas, my lovely sister, Sophi sent me a really profound chain email...one of those forwarded ones that is too good to keep to yourself.

It spoke about how we as women tend to be the worst when it comes to tearing each other down. It mentioned how each of us has a battle we have faced or have to face...many of us face battles no one else knows about. The email mentioned how we should never judge someone unless we've walked in their shoes. Rather than tear down, truly we need to lift each other up in faith and encouragement.

This song is a compilation of the encouragement I received through my sister's email and scriptures of Proverbs 31 of the virtuous woman; Galatians 6:8..we are to bear each other's burdens and Matthew 5:41 where the Lord says if someone spurs us to walk a mile, we should walk another. The song speaks about a nameless woman and is meant to be an "insert your name here" type song because it can be each and every one of us. Many of us have been through personal and private "hells" that we never imagined we would experience. But, it's the strength of our glorious God that pulls us through to the victorious side of the situation!

Sometimes we speak comfort telling others, "I'll pray for you"...but there is nothing like putting on the walking shoes and walking through the battles arm in arm, hand in hand. Be blessed and encouraged. God is able to do more than our little minds can fathom! Rather than words of judgment, let us bless each other with His grace, love and compassion!

My desire is to see the Lord use this song as an anthem for not only women but for churches all around the world. Another vision for this song is to sing it or have it used in Relay for Life type events. Each time I hear this song, I think of survivors and warriors who fight the good fight of faith and life!

Be blessed and pass it on! Y
