“She is running a hundred miles an hour in the wrong direction, she is trying
But the canyon's ever widening in the depths of her cold heart
So she sets out on another misadventure just to find she's another two years older
And she's three more steps behind. Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?"

‘Does Anybody Hear Her’ was written by Mark Hall who is the lead vocalist of Casting Crowns, and the song was released in 2006 as the third single from the band's album Lifesong.

According to Mark Hall, the song is about a girl “who is making all the wrong decisions and how the Christian church is not there for her. We attach identities to people, saying, 'It’s too late to reach this person,' or 'This person here, there’s still some good there, so we should try on this one,' or 'This one’s a lost cause, we just need to get him out of here'. That’s a scary place to live if you’re that person — if you didn’t make the church’s 'list'.”

It’s a powerful message and one that makes you reflect on your actions and how you are showing Christ’s love to others.

"Or does anybody even knows she's going down today, under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people, searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?”

“What I love about this song, among many things, is that it makes us as Christians do a reality check,” writes one person on YouTube after watching the music video. “Are we just claiming to be Christian, going through the motions that we think will save our eternal souls, just doing the ‘church thing’ as ‘good Christians’ should? Or are we really living the Word of God?”
