Tex Ritter--The Deck Of Cards
This is a great song by the late Tex Ritter. (January 12, 1905 January 2, 1974) In 1948, "Rye Whiskey" and his cover of "The Deck of Cards" both made the top ten. Ritter was married to actress Dorothy Fay from June 14, 1941, until his death. The couple had two sons, Thomas Ritter and television actor John Ritter. His last song, "The Americans," became a posthumous hit shortly after his death. In 1974, he had a heart attack and died in Nashville.
