Sermon: "The Man of Sorrows," Part 1. R. Scott MacLaren.
One of the most hotly contested texts of the Old Testament is Isaiah 53, Isaiah's prophecy of the coming Servant of the Lord who would suffer death for the sins of his people. Judaism rejects the thought that Isaiah was speaking of Jesus, while Mainline Christianity rejects the idea of a substitutionary atonement. Watch as Pastor MacLaren shows how plain and unmistakable Isaiah's message really is, and how it is the only true source of comfort for God's people. This sermon was preached at First Presbyterian Church in Perkasie, PA (www.firstchurchopc.org) on 1/16/2011. Rev. R. Scott MacLaren is the pastor.
