"House" Built On Sand
Christians can learn a lot from history. A good example is the Tacoma Narrows Bridge distaster in 1940, which illustrates our Savior's words about "houses buil.t on sand." Terrific newsreel footage. NOTE: The fellow with the pipe indentified as the owner of the car stuck on the bridge was, in reality, a college professor who risked his life by going out on the swaying bridge to rescue a dog trapped in the auto. When the frightened animal tried to tear his arm off he, understandably, gave up the rescue effort and barely reached safety in time. The unfortuate dog was the only casualty of the bridge collapse.
