A Cappella Men's Choir Performs 'Be Thou My Vision'

The a cappella men of Vocal Point perform a beautiful rendition of ‘Be Thou My Vision.’ Even though we don’t know the original writer, it is believed that the poem may have been written by an Irish saint who experienced blindness later in life.

This 8th century Irish hymn was originally translated by Eleanor Hull in 1912. The version that we hear today is sung to the famed Irish folk tune ‘Slane.’

Over the years, many Christian artists and other musicians have covered the hymn, leading to its growing popularity. Despite its age, the powerful words of this hymn still ring true today.

“Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
naught be all else to me, save that thou art -
thou my best thought, by day or by night;
waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.”

Today, the incredible vocalists of Vocal Point are putting their own spin on this beloved classic. This talented men’s choir is known for their a cappella covers of famous hymns and songs. Just listen as they all come together to belt out these words of worship.

“Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word;
I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord.
Thou my great Father; thine own may I be,
thou in me dwelling and I one with thee.”

The lyrics of ‘Be Thou My Vision’ are the perfect reminder that God is in control. When we put our life in His hands, He will truly lead us on the path home.
