Charlie Daniels Sing ‘Softly And Tenderly’ Classic Hymn

Enjoy this classic performance of ‘Softly and Tenderly’ from country legend Charlie Daniels.

This beloved hymn is from the 19th century and it was written by Will Lamartine Thompson. He was a composer of gospel, secular, and patriotic songs. But, when his songs were rejected by publishers of his day, he decided to form his own music publishing company. And this hymn truly stands out as one of the greatest of all time.

“Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling, calling for you and for me
See on the portals He's waiting and watching, watching for you and for me
Come home, come home, ye who are weary come home
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling, calling, ‘O sinner come home’”

Over the decades, ‘Softly and Tenderly’ has been recorded by numerous artists. Each rendition is special and unique, but none can truly compare to this performance from Charlie Daniels. Charlie was an unstoppable force in the country music word with iconic hits like “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” Sadly, he passed away in 2020, but his legacy continues to live on.

This particular performance is from the George Jones memorial service held at the Grand Ole Opry. As you hear these words, we are reminded of the love and comfort that comes from our Lord in Heaven.

There was truly no one like Charlie Daniels and it doesn’t get much better than hearing this superstar praise our King.

Isaiah 40:28 “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.”
