Inspirational 11-Year-Old Grants 3 Wishes For Nursing Home Residents
An 11-year-old girl is making headlines for helping to give back to local nursing home residents. Ruby Chitsey’s mother is a nurse who visits various nursing homes in their area. Sometimes, Ruby likes to tag along with her mom.
During one of the trips, this young girl decided to branch out and visit with the residents. That was when she started to ask them a very powerful question. Ruby asked the residents if they could have any three things right now, what would they be. And the answers she received were a complete surprise. Almost every single person asked for simple, material objects such as soft drinks, snack foods and personal hygiene items. “That's all they wanted. And I really decided that I needed to do something," Ruby said.
After that moment, the young girl made a decision to grant these various wishes as best she could. So she started a GoFundMe to raise money and give back to these special residents. Ruby keeps a notebook with all of the various requests and will visit the store with her mother to purchase the items. And while the residents are excited to receive these special items, it’s not really about the material possession.
Ruby’s gesture shows that someone still cares about them and will take time out of their day to just sit and talk. She may only be 11, but Ruby is already showing what a caring and selfless spirit she possesses. That is worth more than any amount of Vienna sausages.

A Prayer to Help You Comfort Others - Your Daily Prayer - April 25
Have you ever wondered if there is any purpose in your suffering? We certainly don’t go looking for suffering—it comes to us because life is a journey through difficulties and triumphs. Sufferings are a reminder of what Jesus Christ went through and it is a way for us to encourage others.
