Irish Dancers Perform Mesmerizing A Cappella Routine

As the dark room is lit up with spotlights on the stage, a group of over 20 Irish step dancers begins creating an incredible melody by using their feet. The young people dance in such unison it is as if they are an army. The dancers performed at the Fusion Dance Festival. The routine was created by Craig Ashurst and Declan McHale.

As I watched the performance, I pondered how each person was giving the choreography their all, on top of staying in rhythm with the entire group. This not only takes personal talent but great levels of teamwork. Just when you think the stage cannot get any more mesmerizing, the dancers pause halfway through. Suddenly they kick the tempo up showing their skills on foot. As the team moves quicker the lights flash faster, the crowd is amazed. It is as if these young people are as in unity as the New York City Rockettes.

When the routine ends, all of the performers smile, high-five, and hug each other. One jokester even does the “floss” dance while the team exits the stage. The group did an outstanding job and we can learn a lot from their perseverance, focus, and friendship.

Just like these young people are trained and equipped to step in time, we as believers are called to walk by the Spirit. I could not help but think about how the Bible tells us to be in step with the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:25 says, “If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.” Is there a way in which you are stepping out of God’s best for your life? How can you begin to stay in step with His ways? Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can follow the Lord’s leading.
