Walt Disney's 'Cruella' Movie Trailer Spotlights Classic Villian

Dive into the mind of one of Disney’s greatest villains with the upcoming film, ‘Cruella.’ Starring Emma Stone as the title character, Cruella follows the origins of Cruella de Vil, who made puppies quiver in the 101 Dalmatians franchise.

“Set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets.”

When the budding fashionista draws attention from Baroness von Hellman, Estella sets out on a dangerous path that will pave the way for the rise of Cruella and her reign of terror on dogs throughout London.

Cruella features a star-studded cast with appearances by Emma Thompson, Mark Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, Jamie Demetriou, Joel Fry and Kirby Howell-Baptiste. Glenn Close, who also played a live-action version of the villain, serves as executive producer of the film.

This live-action origin story has been in the works since 2011. Nearly a decade later, the first image of Emma Stone as Cruella de Vil was released during the 2019 D23 Expo. Originally set for a 2020 release, the coronavirus pushed back initial plans.

From the costumes to the music, this movie is shaping up to be the biggest film of the year.

Cruella is set to be released in theaters worldwide on May 28, 2021.
