Carrie Underwood Sings 'Softly And Tenderly' Classic Hymn

Carrie Underwood worships the Lord with a stunning rendition of ‘Softly And Tenderly.’

This beloved hymn is from the 19th century and it was written by Will Lamartine Thompson. He was a composer of gospel, secular, and patriotic songs. But, when his songs were rejected by publishers of his day, he decided to form his own music publishing company. And this hymn truly stands out as one of the greatest of all time.

“Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling, calling for you and for me
See on the portals He's waiting and watching, watching for you and for me
Come home, come home, ye who are weary come home
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling, calling, ‘O sinner come home’”

Carrie Underwood became a household name after winning the fourth season of American Idol back in 2005. She won over the hearts of America with covers of songs such as Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" and “Bless The Broken Road” from Rascal Flatts.

After her win, she quickly climbed the country charts and made a solid name for herself in the country music world. It’s been 15 years since that momentous audition and Carrie is still using her gift to glorify God.

In 2021, Carrie announced that she will be releasing her first full-length gospel album. Today, she’s sharing a sneak peak with the classic hymn ‘Softly and Tenderly.’

As you listen to her belt out these words of worship, let the love of the Lord wash over you with peace and comfort.

Isaiah 40:28 “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.”
