'Respect' Aretha Franklin Feature Film Shares Her Inspiring Journey

The trailer for this incredible story is out; ‘Respect’ Aretha Franklin feature film shares her inspiring journey.

Out of all the legendary musicians in existence, Aretha Franklin deserves a movie to tell her story! Her talent and her story made her the incredible singer she was.

Growing up singing in church, Aretha was destined to become a star. She began pursuing her singing career at only 18 years old. Can you imagine how much courage that takes?! In 1966 her hard work paid off with the help of a new record company. A few of her iconic songs helped her become the ‘queen of soul.’

During her career that lasted more than 60 years, Aretha released 39 studio albums. THIRTY-NINE ALBUMS. Iconic career. Iconic songs. Iconic woman.

Aretha also heavily supported the Civil Rights Movement over the years. She performed at rallies and protests and even gave a bunch of money to multiple civil rights groups. All of that success and she still knows the most important thing is to help others!

‘Respect’ has been in the works for a few years now, and before passing away in 2018, Aretha was actually involved in parts of it!

The film stars Jennifer Hudson as Aretha. Is there anyone more perfect for the role?

The trailer teases events throughout her career, and I can’t wait to see it! It comes out toward the end of August this year -- so get ready.

After a four-second introduction of the title along with its song by the same name, the trailer gives us a glimpse into Aretha’s childhood as a minister’s daughter. The actress that plays Aretha as a little girl is adorable and has a beautiful voice!

From that point on, the trailer’s intensity builds, and my patience for the release drops! Watching just the two-minute trailer gives me goosebumps every time!
