Bullied 640-Pound-Teen Sings ‘Amazing Grace’

Overweight teen Justin Williamson overcomes the odds and sings an inspiring rendition of ‘Amazing Grace.’

Authored by John Newton, this beloved hymn was written as a way of giving thanks to the Lord after God granted John new life. As a sailor, John was known for his crude language and actions. But one day at sea, John found himself caught in the middle of a terrible storm. After spending hours at the helm of the ship, battling the waves, John’s thoughts started to turn to God.

After surviving the weather, John started his life as a Christian and dedicated himself to serving the Lord. The beautiful words of ‘Amazing Grace’ were inspired by this incredible moment of self-revelation.

“Amazing Grace,
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
T'was blind but now I see”

Justin Williamson is an overweight teen. Weighing in at 640 pounds, Justin knew he needed to combat his obesity. But as he worked on his outward self, the young man felt a voice inside him that needed to be heard. This clip is from a featured episode of The Doctors where Justin shares he was bullied before finding music. “After I started singing, people could see who I truly was on the inside.”

After sharing his story, Justin stands up in front of the audience and belts out the words to ‘Amazing Grace.’

“T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear
And Grace, my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed”

This is the story of true overcomer and the power of the Lord!
