Cat Hilariously Interrupts Virtual Parliament Meeting

These days, a lot of us are now working from home. And sometimes, we’re faced with some distractions that are downright funny, including our cats!

Take John Nicolson for example. John’s a Scottish journalist, broadcaster, Scottish National Party politician and a member of the UK parliament committee. He was in an important virtual meeting with the Digital, Culture, Media and Sports committee discussing the use of subtitles on children’s TV programs when things started to go a little wrong.

As John was explaining the importance of subtitles doubling literacy in children, he was interrupted by the fluffy orange and white tail of his cat, Rojo!

Once the tail was in view of the camera, you can hear the joy and laughter from the other committee members who enjoyed the little guy’s company. “I apologize for my cat’s tail,”John said.

The other committee members were heard in the background as they laughed. When John finished what he had to say, he ended his turn with the comment, “Rojo put your tail down please,” followed by even more laughter.

After you watch the meeting, it is clear that it was difficult for other members to continue with the program without cracking up. Everyone present had a smile on their face the entire time.

A light hearted distraction can be both a blessing and a curse. One minute there is a discussion about the importance of subtitles, and the next you’re interrupted by the tail of Rojo.

The kitty is now quite the internet sensation across the world, and especially in Japan. BBC Japan made an article of the meeting that only confirmed that Rojo is an international celebrity.

“For all of Rojo’s new fans (thousands across the world it seems) - you have seen the tail, here’s the face”, John said on Twitter, followed by a wonderful picture of our beloved Rojo.

Who knew that a funny cat could turn a regular meeting into a viral moment for all to share and enjoy together? We can only hope to see more of Rojo again in the near future, to give us some more laughs.
