Trio Of Basses Sing 'Hallelujah'

A trio of basses beautifully sing ‘Hallelujah,’ and it sounds like pure wonder.

Imagine with me, three individuals gifted with deep, melodic bass voices, and they get together to sing ‘Hallelujah.’ What you get is a trio of basses singing ‘Hallelujah’ that will blow your mind.

The three men, Connor, Henry, and Dash formed the band Misty. They call themselves harmony and lyric makers with 31,000 followers on Youtube.

They say their story begins when the three voices were forged together by notes that rattle the soul: low notes. One afternoon, they found a tunnel outdoors which had wonderful acoustic conditions, much better than any of their bathrooms. Naturally the guys couldn’t resist and they sang their first song together in that tunnel as they recorded the video titled, ‘The Misty Mountains Cold’ from the Hobbit.

When COVID hit, the trio weren’t able to get together to sing. But they knew quitting wasn’t an option, so they tried several ways to sing with the use of technology. One of the gifts coming from social distancing was the ability to create their own music instead of singing covers. In the meantime, cover songs like the classic ‘Hallelujah’ shows what a tremendous gift they have blending their voices together.

In fact, ‘Hallelujah’ is Hebrew for 'Praise ye the Lord', and Leonard's song explores the different kinds of Hallelujah we offer God in our suffering and joy. When Leonard Cohen first released Hallelujah, it was not an instant hit. Decades later, another artist would pick the song as a cover and make it immensely popular--including the band Misty with their incredible version. You have to watch to believe it!

Those who have watched them Connor, Henry, and Dash perform the song have left comments that give you an idea just how amazing they sound. One commenter said, “Question here, do y'all give yourself chills while singing or is it just all of us? Love this!” Another added, “I've been waiting on y'all to sing this since y'all asked for suggestions a while back. It came out wonderfully, thank you!”

“Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.” Revelation 19:6
