Trisha Yearwood And Garth Brooks Sing Johnny Cash Tribute

Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks sing a Johnny Cash tribute honoring Johnny and June Carter Cash that will have your toe tapping and your heart soaring.

Johnny Cash was a legendary country singer. He was born in 1932 and is perhaps best remembered for his songs I Walk The Line, Ring Of Fire, Folsom Prison Blues, and Hurt. He is a two-time winner of the Personality Of The Year Award at the Academy of Country music, earning the title in both 1969 and 1970. He also won the Single of The Year Award in 1985, and the Pioneer Award in 1990.

But one of the things Johnny Cash was best known for, was his unconditional love for his wife and singing partner, June Carter Cash. June was a backup singer for Elvis Presley, and was at the Grand Ole Opry where Elvis and Johnny were both performing when The Man in Black walked up to June. “Then, one night backstage at the Opry, this man walked up to me and said, ‘I want to meet you, I’m Johnny Cash.'” June shared.

In 1968, Johnny proposed to June on stage in front of 7,000 people. The two of them would marry and go on to have a son, John Carter Cash, who is now a musician himself. Johnny and June would go on to sing many famous duets together, and they also sang hymns at the Billy Graham Crusades events. “The love that John and I share with our love for Christ is one of the most precious gifts God could have given us,” June said.

The duo continued to share the stage and their love for more than 35 years, when June passed away.

Garth Brooks, 58, and his wife Trisha Yearwood 56, are another powerhouse married country music couple. So it’s only natural that they were selected to perform a moving June Carter Cash & Johnny Cash tribute.

The medley of songs included: "Jackson", "Chug A Lug", "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue", "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man", "I Beg Your Pardon [I Never Promised You a Rose Garden]", :Don't Close Your Eyes", and "Golden Ring." In the crowd, actress Nicole Kidman can be seen dancing along, and others are all smiles and singing along with the parade of country hits.

This truly was a wonderful tribute performance to one of America’s legendary country couples. Their talent and their love for one another will be long remembered, and their music continues to inspire people today.
