Hillbilly Stuns With Banjo Performance At Talent Show - Staff Picks

When we think of a school talent show, a lot of us think about singing, dancing, and classroom skits or routines. They’re always a good time but you aren’t really expecting a big ‘wow’ moment. However, sometimes you get that extra special kid that truly has the ‘it’ factor and the performance completely blows you away. That’s exactly what happened with Joel at his Bennett High School talent show. Joel walked onto the stage wearing overalls and carrying a banjo.

I’ll be honest, at first, I thought it was going to be a funny skit but I was absolutely wrong. You can hear the chuckles in the audience as Joel sits down with his banjo in front of the microphone. But then, this talented teen leans back and starts to strum. The chuckles immediately turned into claps and cheers because Joel has some serious banjo skills. Just listen as he plays “Cripple Creek featuring Boil Them Cabbage Down” and “Foggy Mountain Breakdown.”

I definitely wasn’t expecting a performance like this and I don’t think the crowd was either. By the end of the routine, the entire audience erupts in cheers and applause. Joel is grinning from ear to ear when he tosses his cowboy hat out into the crowd. I think everyone at the show had a great time and they were able to see a real talent in action.
