Trooper Pulls Over Retired Cop That Delivered Him Years Ago

No one wants to be stopped by a police officer, but it’s a situation that does happen from time to time. Matthew Bailly probably wasn’t in the best mood when he saw flashing lights in his rear view mirror, but he pulled over and cooperated with this officer.

New Jersey State Trooper Michael Patterson thought he was just going through a routine minor vehicle violation, but it turned into something so much more for both of these men.

Matthew is actually a retired police officer from Piscataway, New Jersey. He struck up a conversation with Trooper Patterson and they started to talk about the town. Trooper Patterson used to live there and even mentioned the street that he grew up on. Matthew recalled a story about delivering his very first baby at a house on that same street.

Finally, Trooper Patterson put the pieces together and revealed that 27 years ago, he was the baby that Matthew had delivered. He immediately shook Matthew’s hand and the two formed an instant bond. After this meeting, Trooper Patterson and his mom met Matthew and his wife to reconnect.

I’m sure that both parties had a lot of interesting stories about that night 27 years ago and that it will be a moment none of them will ever forget. I’m so glad that God brought these families back together. And don’t worry about that original vehicle violation that Matthew was pulled over for. Trooper Patterson let Matthew off with just a warning. What an incredible story!
