Grandpa With Dementia Sings 'It Is Well'

Grandpa With Dementia Sings 'It Is Well'

Mallory Headings’ grandpa suffers from dementia and when his wife was no longer able to care for him, he was put into a nursing home. Recently, Mallory and her family went for a visit and something amazing happened. Mallory decided to start singing one of Grandpa's favorite hymns 'It Is Well.'

This beloved hymn was written by Horatio Spafford and composed by Philip Bliss. After Horatio lost all four of his daughters, he wrote down these words as a testament to God.

The lyrics are a reminder that God is with us through the good times and the bad.

"When peace like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul”

Once Mallory started to sing, her Grandpa chimed in. Mallory and her grandpa used to sing old hymns together and he even remembered his harmony.

“It is well
With my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul"

This is such a heartwarming moment to witness. Dementia can truly take a toll on a family, but I'm so glad that their love for the Lord brought these 2 back to each other. This is definitely a moment that they will cherish for a lifetime and I'm so glad that the family was able to capture it on video.

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
