Truck Driver With Cancer Sings “The Old Man is Dead

You have to see this emotional video of a truck driver with cancer singing the song ‘The Old Man Is Dead.’

“Now and then an old friend of mine, I've not seen for some time, will stop by and ask me
Where I been, what's on my mind, they wonder why I'm not drinkin', and still painting
This old town red, I tell them I'm serving Jesus now, and the old man is dead
And the man you see before you, may look a lot the same, I may wear the same clothes,
And have the same old name, but you're looking' on the outside, if you could see
Inside instead, you would see a brand new man, cause the old man is dead”

60-year-old Delvin Simmons has been a truck driver for over 40 years. He's spent a lot of time behind the wheel listening to the radio. Throughout the years, he's always turned to one special song to carry him through hard times.

Recently, doctors diagnosed Delvin with stage four colon cancer after his very first colonoscopy. Now, this brave man is turning again to the song that sees him through the tough times. Listen as Delvin sits in his truck and sings ‘The Old Man is Dead’ by Del Way.

“Hey! What’s going on?” Delvin says to the camera while driving around Kansas. “My last drive home. I want to sing you a song here, if we can get it to go right....don’t know if I can do it or not.”

Delvin knew that the cancer would eventually make him too weak to drive, so he decided to record himself singing his favorite tune for his children. And he gets emotional as he sings out the words.

Now, this special performance has been viewed over 4 million times on Facebook and everyone is talking about Delvin. He's hoping that his story will give others hope and encourage people to get early screening tests. What an inspiring man!
