SJB Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
These 3-5 year olds are not empty, passive vessels to be filled with religious instruction, as some may think. Though they don’t have the vocabulary to talk about it well, they have a spiritual awareness and sensitivity of their own and we are challenged to take them seriously instead of dismissing their spirituality as not as “mature” as adults. Spirituality is not something that happens later in life but is part of human experience throughout our lives, and should be taken seriously at all ages.
