Lee Daniels' The Butler - In theaters August 16!
IN THEATERS AUGUST 16, 2013 - http://goo.gl/eNNMy6
The historical epic film Lee Daniels’ The Butler opens this month and is already creating a stir in the faith community. Set against the tumultuous political backdrop of 20th century America, the film tells the story of White House butler Cecil Gaines (Forest Whitaker), a committed Christian man who serves seven U.S. presidents between 1957 and 1986. Inspired by the real life of former butler Eugene Allen, the film begins in 1924 with a young Cecil living in the fiercely segregated South and facing the tyranny of the region’s prejudices. After years spent working in a hotel, Cecil is discovered by a White House employee and lands the opportunity of a lifetime: as a butler at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. In a remarkable turn of events that can only happen in America, Cecil finds himself a firsthand witness to history and the inner workings of the Oval Office as the civil rights movement unfolds. At the same time, he and his wife Gloria (Oprah Winfrey) must grapple with both the challenges of marriage and the rebellious spirit of their son Louis (David Oyelowo), whose tenacious hunger for activism and equal rights often puts him in danger and at odds with his father.

A Prayer When a Situation Seems Impossible - Your Daily Prayer - April 24
My wife has recently painted these words on a wall in our house as a reminder to us both: “Mightier than the waves of the sea, is His love for us!” (Inspired by Psalm 93:4). Please remember this. Mightier than the tempest you are facing is His love for you!
