Malachi

Malachi Summary

The Book of Malachi, for Christians, is the last book of the Old Testament. After this minor prophet book, the New Testament begins. The book is commonly attributed to a prophet by the name of Malachi, although no one can really be sure if that was the name of a real prophet or not.

There are many scholars that believe that the Book of Malachi is actually a collection consisting of three independent prophecies. No matter the origin of the Book of Malachi or how exactly the contents should be divided, the Book of Malachi was written to correct the lax religious and social behavior of the Israelites in post-exilic Jerusalem.
