Pauses and Doubt
Summary: One has to wonder what went through Noah’s mind as he sat inside the ark for seven long days, listening to the laughter of his critics. Were there moments when he doubted himself? You’ve got to wonder why the Bible records that pause before the flood waters hit. Maybe it’s so we can see that when we don’t hear from God, it’s only a pause—a chance to build our character and develop a deeper faith.
Verse: "And it came to pass after seven days that the waters of the flood were on the earth. In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened."
—Genesis 7:10-11
