Description: 1. According to The Jerusalem Post, a senior Israeli official told Israel Radio on Tuesday morning that Israel is capable of carrying out a unilateral military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities without operational support from the United States.

2. According to Reuters, Syrian President Bashar Assad said crushing "terrorists" must come before any political solution to end the crisis in his country, dimming hopes of an international peace conference any time soon. Speaking in Damascus, Assad praised recent gains by his military forces across the country and said Syria can finish off the insurgency "within months" if people fight with the army through a "popular war".

3. According to The Jerusalem Post, a report citing U.S., UN and EU officials says that the Arak heavy water nuclear reactor in Iran will be capable of producing two nuclear bombs' worth of weapons grade plutonium in a year and will be capable of producing the material by next summer.

4. According to The Globe and Mail, the plight of honey bees is getting worse in many parts of the world and no one seems to know precisely why. This past winter, in the U.S., beekeepers lost 31 per cent of their colonies. Canada reported an annual loss of 35 per cent of colonies in the last three years.
