2009 Children's Day Celebration - HK & Taiwan

Children's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world, to honor children but in different dates. Children's day was first celebrated in October, 1953, under the sponsorship of International Union for Child Welfare, Geneva. The idea of Universal Children's Day was mooted by an Indian late Mr. V.K. Krishna Menon and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954.Since December 14, 1954, the United Nations and UNESCO observes 20th November as the Universal Children's Day. General Assembly recommended that all countries institute a Universal Children's Day, to be observed as a day of worldwide fraternity and understanding between children. It recommended that the Day was to be observed also as a day of activity devoted to promoting the ideals and objectives of the Charter and the welfare of the children of the world.


Universally, Children's Day is celebrated on 20th November, Children's Day is celebrated on April 4th in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
April 23rd is the "National Sovereignty and Children's Day" in Turkey.

National Children's Day in Japan is known as Kodomo no Hi. and it is celebrated on May5.
South Korea also celebrates Children's Day on May 5th.
Children's Day is celebrated on May 27th on Nigeria.
In Paraguay, Children's Day is celebrated on August 16th.
Singapore officially celebrates Children's Day on October 1st.
Children's Day is celebrated the second Sunday of August in Argentina.
The second Saturday of January is Children's Day in Thailand.
In Venezuela the Children's Day is celebrated the third Sunday of July.
Children's Day is celebrated on October 12th in Brazil.
Children's Day is celebrated on June 1st in Albania, Germany, China, Poland, and Romania.

Children's Day is celebrated on November 14 th in India.
