What Our Soul Finds Rests In-John Piper
What gives the soul comfort and rest? Why most of us would like to say God alone is what the soul rests upon, if this was true then the soul would never actually need rest. No one is made this way; everyone is wired to rest in material things: money, food, sex, family looks, ect. This is why we must both wrestle with ourselves and see the road to salvation as being very narrow. Our bodies, still attached to our fallen nature, will seek out other comforts besides Jesus. This is why it takes great effort to follow Christ.
