Get Ready

Get Ready
Malachi 4:5-6 says …. “See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.”
After Malachi said these words, there were four hundred years of prophetic silence.
When we next hear God speak publicly it is from the mouth of John the Baptist in the Gospels.
John came in the spirit and power of Elijah. His ministry was to prepare the way for Jesus Christ’s first coming.
However, this prophecy also relates to the end of the age, therefore it applies to both the first and second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The message of John and Elijah, was to call the people back to God. Sadly, it is just as relevant today as it was then.
Lord Jesus, thank you for sending messengers to get us ready for your return. Amen.
