Description: 1. According to the Associated Press, Israeli officials confirmed on Saturday that the country's air force carried out a strike against Syria which targeted a shipment of advanced missiles bound for the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. The officials said the attack took place early Friday and targeted sophisticated "game-changing" weapons. One official said the target was a shipment of advanced, long-range ground-to-ground missiles. It was not immediately clear where the airstrike took place, or whether the air force carried out the strike from Lebanese or Syrian airspace. The Israeli officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were discussing a secret military operation.

2. According to Reuters, a new Pentagon report to Congress said that North Korea's continuing development of nuclear technology and long-range ballistic missiles will move it closer to its stated goal of being able to hit the United States with an atomic weapon. The report, the first version of an annual Pentagon assessment required by law, said North Korea's Tae-po-dong-2 missile, with continued development, might ultimately be able to reach parts of the United States carrying a nuclear payload if configured as an intercontinental ballistic missile.

3. According to Haaretz, U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel reportedly told his Israeli counterparts that the Obama administration would examine military options against Iran more closely
