Single Mom Told She Was Too Old Stuns With Aretha Franklin Audition

One single mom who was told she was too old to be a singer for so long ends up stunning the audience and judges on The X Factor with her Aretha Franklin audition.

Stacy Francis is a 42-year-old single mom of two that has never had a shot at accomplishing her dreams of singing. She has a 5-month-old and a 3-year-old, and has found it hard to go after her passion with the demands of motherhood.

“It’s been very difficult trying to sing when you have two kids,” she said. “Late at night, my babies are sleeping. So I go into the bathroom, I close the doors, and I sing to Aretha Franklin or Whitney Houston or Celine Dion.”

She also struggled with her confidence after being in a terrible, abusive relationship. “I just lost faith in myself,” she shared. But now, Stacy is ready to go after her dream! She decided to audition with the song ‘Natural Woman’ by Aretha Franklin.

And what an incredible performance she gives! After her song, Stacy gets a standing ovation from everyone in the theater.

“I was completely and utterly blown away with every single word you sang,” remarks one of the judges. “And I could feel the whole room was willing you to win. And you just won. You’re amazing.”

Stacy is overwhelmed with emotion as tears stream down her face while she is taking in the uplifting remarks from the judges.

“Let me tell you something, Stacy. I’ve done this a long, long time,” Simon Cowell says. “That was one of the best auditions I have ever heard in my life. You did more than sing it, you believed in it. Loved it, loved it, loved it! I love you.”

Stacy gets four yeses from the judges, and she is completely elated! What an incredible moment for her to experience!
